Merry Christmas or Bah Humbug

Last day of work and then I'm off for 13 glorious days!!! Too bad I'm not really that excited about what I'm going to be doing during that time.

I'm just really not into Christmas this year at all. I know it's horrible, but I don't want to go to Shawnee tomorrow....I just want to sleep in and hang out at the house. We are getting up early to go to Ryan's mom's house, where his grandma and great uncle will also be. Then we have to go to his other grandma's for the rest of the day to be surrounded by his aunts and uncle, cousins, grandma, her boyfriend, Ryan's dad and whoever else decides to stop by. It's crowded and the house is cluttered with "granny" stuff...and we stay ALL DAY. And night. We usually don't get to leave until late. If it was my family, I would be thrilled.....I know, I know. I'm a bad person. I just get tired of worrying about things to talk about and get bored sitting around. And I miss my family during the holidays so much it hurts.

Ryan and I had a spat last night and I'm still pissed at him, which is probably going to ruin our gift exchange tonight. I had told our friends Jamie and Sean that we would come over for dinner and see their new house. I told Ryan we would try to get there around 7. Well, I got off work early and came home at 6. He was playing his computer game (WHAT ELSE IS NEW???) and I told him that on the way home, there was really heavy fog and traffic was bad, so maybe we should leave right now just to make sure we get there in time. They live in Yukon, which is about 25 minutes away on a good night with no fog. He tells me he thought we weren't getting there until 7, so he just keeps playing his game. So I go out into the living room and wait. I sat on the couch for 30 minutes while he kept playing and I was just getting madder and madder. By the time he came out I was ready to explode. I probably over-reacted but I just felt so disrespected that he didn't acknowledge what I said, like it didn't matter. His game. His stupid game. I want to microwave it until it catches on fire. I yelled at him andhe said he didn't even want to go, so I said, "FINE! THEN YOU CALL JAMIE AND TELL HER THAT!!" We ended up driving to Yukon in silence. When we pulled up to their house, he looked at me and started to laugh and that pissed me off even more. He said, "I'm sorry we're one minute late," and I yelled "That's not the issue!" and slammed his door really hard.

By the time we left the house, we were in better moods because we had to fake being happy with Jamie and Sean. They're so great. I love going over there....and we played this hilarious Rabbids game on their Wii. But I'm still mad....and he won't apologize because he thinks I'm obsessed with controlling him and blames our fight on me, like usual.

I'm hopefully getting out of here around lunchtime, then I'm going to either take a nap or clean the house...since Ryan is on break but hasn't done any cleaning because he waited until the very last second to do all of his shopping, or else he's on the computer.

Christmas party

Is it Christmas yet?

Last week I took a whirlwind trip to DC for our company Christmas party and IT WAS CRAZY.

Wednesday morning our plane was leaving at 7am, so I had to get up at 4am to make sure I was all packed and straighten my hair, blah blah blah. Patrick was supposed to pick me up at 5:40 to get us to the airport on time. He texted around 6 asking where my house was, ahhh!!! We barely made our flight...our boss was on a different flight but it was leaving at the same time, so he was calling us wanting to know where we were. We were like, "We're going through security! We're coming!!" So we ran down the hall and were like the last people to get on the plane. We had a quick layover in Denver and got to DC around 1pm. We had to go straight to the office because Patrick had to be in some meetings, so we took a cab and when we got there everyone was so happy to see us. It was fun for awhile, walking around and talking to everyone I hadn't seen in person since June. Then I snuck out to go check in at the hotel.

The hotel was called "Hotel Rouge,' and it reminded me of a prostitute house. Everything was in red, and even the elevator had really dim red light when you got inside. My room had a giant red leather headboard and a giant mirror (like the size of the wall!) next to the bed! Haha!

I was exhausted, so I layed down for 20 minutes and then it was time to go to the dinner. I had bought this awesome black cocktail dress from Express that I was dying to wear....it was layered and had a big black flower on the front. I bought sparkly black diamonds to match. Well, our boss put on the email that he sent out "Business Attire." So all the girls dressed down, they said last year everyone wore dresses but they weren't sure this year since he put that. So I just wore my striped black and blue sweater with black leggings.

The dinner was at the Hay-Adams hotel and it was really, really fancy! I got there before everyone else, so I made small chat with this old Asian guy who was serving me champagne. When everyone showed up, we drank champagne and talked for awhile...then we had a four course meal with steak and the best chocolate cake I've ever had in my life. Our wine glasses were never empty, the Asian guy was stalking around with the wine bottles and we were laughing so hard that we were crying. I was timing him to see how long it took for him to fill up our glass after we drank half....at one point, I was telling my friend Maria that I was going to time her glass too, and as soon as she set it down he was magically there to fill it back up. So funny. I drank wayyyy too much.

When dinner was over, we all walked to a cool bar and we had the back room to ourselves basically. My boss opened a tab and we could order whatever we wanted (again, not a good idea for me). We were all getting pretty goofy, taking pictures and just talking for hours. We finally left there to go to another bar and by then, everyone was wasted. The girls were dancing on the club lounge seats like crazy people, the bosses were laughing hysterically.....I don't know if we blended in or if everyone in there thought we were insane. I went over to the bar and bumped into a guy who bought me a drink (hey, I can't say no!) He was asking who these crazy people were...I was like...oh, I'm not with them, haha!

At some point we all left....it's a miracle I made it out with my purse and coat....and went to another bar! I don't remember much from that one, I just remember getting seperated from the group and wandering around some dark hallways...it was an old house that was turned into a bar I think. I finally just took a cab home. The cab driver was foreign and I was cracking him up...he asked if he could take me on a tour of DC, free of charge! I said no thanks, so he wrote his number down and said to call him later if I changed my mind.

The next day I was SO SICK and barely made it without throwing up in the cab and plane. Ugh. I'm a retard. But it was so fun!!!!

Flaky People Make Me Break Out in Hives

I AM SO MAD AT RYAN'S FRIENDS!! I guess they're mutual friends, but for these purposes, let's pretend they aren't in any way associated with me.

We are in Ashley and Mike's wedding. Great. Fine. Never mind that it's weird I'm a bridesmaid, since I barely know Ashley...but I'm trying to be supportive and happy. The whole group is going to be there...all of our old friends from college (I mean Ryan's friends.) We planned to drive there to save money, and Wes and Kenny said they would ride with us too. That was back in August. Ashley booked everyone's hotel rooms, and put people together in a room so we could split the cost since it's going to be 5 nights and the hotel is nice. That was a few months ago.

SO.....this week, I am trying to write/call everyone to double check this is still the way it's going to be. Nobody writes me back. Fine.

I call the people who are supposed to be sharing a room, Josh and Jana. Josh tells me Jana doesn't want to share a room and they are going to look for another hotel so they can have their own. Really???? When were they planning to tell us? The wedding stuff starts in a little more than a week, so by this point we're basically being screwed over!! I call Ashley to vent and tell her I don't know what we're going to do....I can't afford to pay $500 for a hotel room at Christmas time! So she tells me to call Josh back and tell him that everyone in the wedding party is supposed to stay at the hotel together for a reason, because we are going to be drinking and she doesn't want any of us to drive. Josh says he'll have to discuss with Jana. This goes on....until FINALLY Josh calls back to say ok, they'll do it. They will share a room and split the cost with their "friends." Fabulous.

Ryan finds out from Kenny that he has decided to fly straight from Thailand to Alabama and won't be carpooling. Which....ok, I can see why that makes sense....but WHEN EXACTLY were you going to tell us??? Ryan just happened to learn this little bit of knowledge when they were both online playing their stupid computer game. Then, today Wes finally writes back. Here is our conversation, copied straight from Facebook:

Wes Wilke
I am flying from DFW to 'bama! Is that what you were wondering?

Andrea Kurys
??????? you and kenny said you were riding with us??? now you're both ditching!

Andrea Kurys
Do you remember this message?
Kenny Somvongsiri- July 23 at 8:57pm
I'll drive down there with you all. Was my original plan anyways. Talked to you the other day already anyways. So we would leave what time dec 26? Early morning or during the day?
Wes WilkeJuly 24 at 12:14am-count me in for carpool goodness!so much ♥

Wes Wilke
That was before I knew how many people were trying to fit in one car. It makes more sense for me to fly than to drive to OK and then drive to AL.

Andrea Kurys
Well, now it's just Ryan and me....and I'm flying to North Dakota after the wedding so Ryan is going to have to drive back by himself. I wish you and Kenny would have let us know sooner, because now it's a little more than a week out.

He wasn't even going to say anything!!! And we aren't trying to fit tons of people, Ryan has a big SUV and it was going to be the 4 of us.

So now Ryan is stuck driving back from Alabama by himself because I just checked flights and they are way too expensive last minute. I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GO TO THIS WEDDING!!!

There. I feel better now.

Holiday Party

I went down to Bricktown last night for the AEP Holiday Party at the XO Lounge....it's in the basement of the Colcord hotel and it was awesome! It's really upscale, I felt like I was in Vegas!

It's small and dark...there are little cubes in the back that each have their own table and wrap-around couch. You can pull a white curtain across the cube and make it private. We were drinking "Pornstars" all night because they were the drink special- but we never ordered it by the name because it bothered us, haha! It was vodka and some kind of grapefruit/orange juice, they were yummy.

I made a few new friends. This guy Trevor Bruner who works at Morgan Stanley...he was there with his dad and they were cracking me up. They had tons of stories about backpacking around Europe and I was laughing all night. Ashley introduced me to a guy that I think she might be into, his name was Ben. He seemed to be quite entertained by her, he followed us around all night. He's moving away soon though, so I hope she doesn't get too close.

Well, What Can I Say?

Sooo......the concert was one of the best nights, EVER, of course! I picked Hailee up from her house after work because we had to get to the casino really early to get our tickets. The radio guy didn't have them when we showed up, but he said we had time to eat dinner and he would come find us when he got them.

So we decided to go eat at Jason White's restaurant, Autographs....we wanted a drink, and I knew the prices were kinda high so I decided to try my luck on a slot machine on the way over. I told Hailee that whatever I won I would put towards our dinner. I was only betting .40 cents a spin, and on my second spin I got the bonus game!! (I was playing Super Jackpot Party, the best machine in the whole casino in my opinion). I had a crazy streak of luck and kept picking the big amounts and "extra" hits....and ended up with $36!! Not bad!! We were laughing so much because I made it look so easy. We went to the restaurant and ordered wine and dinner, and my winnings covered our whole tab.

The radio guy found us in the restaurant and it was time to go sit down, so we went inside the concert hall and located our seats. They were pretty good, not front row...but very close! It actually ended up being better since swarms of teenage girls started crowding the stage after the show started. She was soooo great live, it was unreal. I've been to concerts where the singing is ok, but you can tell they aren't as good as what their CD's sound like....not Colbie! She rocked it out! I was busy half the time trying to get a good picture without the flash on. It didn't work too well, if you've seen my facebook pictures.

The show was pretty short, she did all the popular songs and one or two from her upcoming album. Then it was time to go meet her! We waited in the backroom behind the stage and she took FOREVER to come out. Her manager said she likes to "wind down after the show." We went to the back of the line and were last to meet her (there were some casino people who got to come back there too). So when it was my turn, I got so nervous and just walked up like a retard with my CD and ticket stub and said something like, "I have two things!" Gawd. She shook my hand and said, "I'm Colbie" (No! Really?) and I told her, "I'm Andrea." Classic. She signed my ticket stub and I promptly smeared the ink when I took it back from her. It happened so fast, Hailee didn't get a chance to take a good picture. The one she did take, I deleted because I was hunched over the table and looked like a hobbit.

I was pretty pissed that she wouldn't pose with anyone for pictures, so I waited until she did her radio interview and then when she was walking about of the room with her entourage, I sucked it up and called, "Colbie...my picture didn't turn out at all, would you mind taking another one with me?" She acted a little put out, which I thought was pretty diva-like. She was holding a milkshake and her friend asked her if she wanted to put it down so she could take the picture. She just said no, and we took it really fast. And again, I LOOKED HIDEOUS! I was pretty bummed out when I saw it. But at least I got a close-up picture and nobody else did! Ha!

Colbie Callait!

Yahoo!!!!!

Yesterday at work I listened to the radio alllll day, waiting for them to play "Mistletoe" so I could call in to try and win tickets and backstage passes to the Colbie Callait concert tonight. I never actually thought I would get through, but a tiny part of me wanted to at least try...so I didn't even leave my chair to go to the bathroom, even though I had to pee really really bad the last hour before they played it. FINALLY, like 4 hours later...I heard the song...and called in using both my cell phone and our business phone. It was a busy signal for 4 or 5 tries, and then they answered! And told me I was caller #2, try again. SHOOT! So I manically kept dialing and listening to the busy signal, miserably. But just when I was about to give up, they answered again!!! And asked me what my name was!!! I WON! Like I said....YAHOO!!! I love her, I could listen to her voice all day. And I actually almost bought tickets earlier this week, but they were kind of expensive and I'm poor so I didn't. This is so much better. I'm going to Border's on my lunch break today to find a different CD from Coco for her to sign.

I'm really glad it's Friday. I don't know what I'm going to do all day at work, I've finished everything earlier in the week. It's a lot harder to pass the time when there's nothing to do. I was supposed to go to my Dream Dinners session tonight, and I don't think I can reschedule. I'm not sure what to do...I'm going to call the lady and beg to change the days. Tomorrow we're taking Ryan's dad out for his birthday. Probably to a restaurant or something, and then we're going to watch the Big 12 game. Go Sooners.

Sunday I have plans to go see "Australia" with Mallory. I've been dying to see it, Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were on Oprah last week and they were so cute. They showed clips from the movie and I think it's going to be GREAT. Other than that, not much else going on...I need to send all of the Christmas presents to my scattered family, and I'm not looking forward to waiting in the post office line. I'm glad I started early this year, at least I'm pretty much done and can relax now!

Fender Bender

On the way to work today, I stopped at a red light. I was behind a giant orange moving truck. All of a sudden, I see its tail lights come on, and it starts backing up INTO MY CAR!!! Mind you, I was a good distance away but by the time I realized what was happening, and threw my car into reverse, it was still coming and I heard a noise as it hit the front of my car. I wanted to cry.

Then, the light turns green and the truck starts to drive away! The driver didn't even see me! At this point, I'm blaring my horn and flashing my lights. I'm not letting this asshole get away. I called by boss and told him what was going on, and he gave me the police phone number to call for a hit and run. I tailed this truck all over the city until it finally stopped at a house.

I rolled down my window (it was raining, like a monsoon outside) and yelled at the guys...they were walking away into the house. When I told them they hit me, they acted all surprised and we all went around to the front of my car to inspect the damage. He saw it before me and said, "There is not even one scratch on it." So I looked...and it is clearly evident where he hit me! The paint is all messed up in two different places, the GM symbol is so scratched up that it's ruined, and parts of the plastic vents are scraped! Plus, it looks like the panel got pushed in a little bit, it feels really loose.

So I told the guy I wanted his DL and insurance info, and he got on the phone with his boss. We called a cop to come out and write up a report, and when the cop asked the guy what happened, he told him that he thought I probably had those scratches and scrapes on my car before today. WHAT!! I told him, NO! This is a brand new car! Then he told the cop that the moving truck is a standard, so he might have rolled back a bit at the light. The cop asked me if I was following too close, I said absolutely not! I had to back up like 3 or 4 feet and he still hit me! I never park right behind cars at lights, for this exact reason!

I was so mad that the guy was trying to get out of everything, I just sat in my car and waited for the cop to finish the police report. The moving truck company better pay for the damages or somebody's going to be sorry. I guess I have to wait and see....I'm going to call the manager tomorrow if I don't hear from the insurance people, but I'm sure he's just as shady as his employees.
